Wroclaw Gnomes first appeared in the city in 2005 to commemorate the Orange Alternative anti communist movement in the 1980s. There are now over 700 in the city. Children love finding them with maps of their locations. The story behind them is fascinating. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wroc%C5%8…
This powerful work in Wroclaw is called The Passage. People disappear on one side of the road and others reappear on the other side. Apparently, it represents citizens disappearing when martial law was introduced in 1980 during the communist era and rebirth when it ended in 1983.

I fell in love with the Polish architecture in Gdansk last January and happily, Wroclaw is equally beautiful. The Market Square-Rynek is an assault on the senses.
St Elizabeth Church in Wroclaw between the Hansel and Gretel arch. Whenever I see trees lit up, I can't help trying to take a photo that looks like the cover of Echo & the Bunnymens Crocodiles.
The astonishing Panoramic Battle of Raclawice in Wroclaw. It was painted in 1893 and is 350 feet wide and 50 feet high. Objects placed in the foreground make it look like you could actually walk into the painting.
This has baffled and delighted me for a few days. Cisnien Borek, The Wroclaw Water Tower. Built in 1905, it's 200 feet tall and is such a unique and bonkers piece of architecture. I suspect Heath Robinson would approve.

Adventures in Poland Part 3. Wroclaw pronounced Vrot-Swarf in Lower Silesia. I love the sound of Silesia as I did last year with Pomerania. Also, as I discovered in Gdansk last January, it's still officially Christmas until the 5th February in Poland.
All the grandchildren have been neatly packed away until the new year and time for my favourite afternoon of the holidays. New records & books. It always ends nostalgically with the 10 records Mum & Dad bought me on Christmas Eve 1979 ready for my first record player the next day

I bought this yesterday in a charity shop for £4 and I love it. It looks like L.S. Lowry collaborated with Bruegel. But I've realised the reason i love it is because it evokes childhood memories of Mr Benn and the town where Mary, Mungo and Midge lived.

Porto has some incredibly beautiful gothic churches. The Igreja De Sao Francisco and the Igreja Do Carmo are well worth a visit.

@girlshirl1 You're right, a cruel challenge! I deliberately left out anything by Buzzcocks, Kraftwerk, some of my other favourites as I wanted to shine a light on albums I love by others. In the end, i did weaken and include a Pete Shelley and BN LP. Too much to choose from with BN.
