This must be seen and heard to be believed.
@AbigailShrier If you are thinking about her comment using a western/ colonial mindset then it is confronting. However MANY indigenous cultures have held this philosophy for millennia and it works.
@AbigailShrier this is how violence ends up becoming justified
@AbigailShrier The government and public schools do such a good job at just about everything, why not hand your kids over to them or the “whole community” to help raise them. I’m sure this way would not have any politically bias at all. Unreal!
@AbigailShrier We are a Multicultural society, what's good for one culture may not be to other cultures. Being raised by a village historically the population had same cultural and religious background!
@AbigailShrier The problem is "ownership" I thought we rejected ownership of human beings over 100 years ago. Children aren't the property of parents they are the responsibility of parents. The thought that people think they own my children isn't just offensive it is frightening.
@AbigailShrier A bastardized "It takes a village to raise a child". Except instead of assuming kids are the primary responsibility of their parents, but would benefit from community services... This take seems to suggest the primary responsibility lies w/the 'community' and *not* w/the parents.
