5. "What has surprised you most about working at [Company]?" Asking about surprise helps you get to what's interesting about the company culture beyond what's online. It gives you interesting insights on the culture and shows you ask intriguing questions.
6. "What do you expect the career path to be for a high performer in this role?" This shows you are thinking about growth and high performance. It also primes them to think about your career growth if you do join.
7. "What directions have you seen the company move in your time there?" This helps you understand how the company is changing. And it gets the person reflecting on their time there, which is a fun exercise for them and puts them in a good mental state.
8. "Where are other candidates in the process?" This helps you gain awareness of how quickly you should schedule your next interview. And it shows you're the type of person seeing the whole chessboard.
9. "What's the most impactful thing you've worked on here?" People love to talk about themselves. So they will enjoy this question. It's always good to ask one like it. It also gives you insight into the potential impact you could have.
