Joe Manchin represents .5% of US population but is killing Build Back Better supported by 70% of Americans
Senate Dems represent 43 million more Americans than GOP but Manchin also supporting filibuster that allows 41 GOP senators representing just 21% of country to block hugely popular policies, including his own Freedom to Vote Act motherjones.com/politics/2021/…
@AriBerman What is the solution Right now? Schurmer should call them back now and being things to a head on voting rights and BBB and Reproductive rights, and the Pro Act with POTUS fully engaged. That would be happy holidays, now!
@AriBerman THAT is the power of lobbyist money. Nice case study, right!?!
@AriBerman He was re-elected in 2018 by a plurality, not even a majority. And those who voted for him represent only 0.1% of US eligible voters.
@AriBerman Hopefully everyone in the 70% voted to put a Democrat in the Senate if they had the opportunity. So we need to keep the House blue and expand our majority in the Senate. Concentrate on voting rights.
@AriBerman Every GOP senate seat needs to be challenged. The Nation needs a Democratic majority in the senate and the filibuster must be restored to the “hold the floor” model.
@AriBerman That’s absolutely right because Democratic leadership is not focusing on #VotingRights. People don’t want to hear this but we have the government we voted for. Until our leadership focuses on voting rights, this scenario will persist.
@AriBerman We need to shine a spotlight on ALL the senators who voted down BBB. Every single one of them.
@AriBerman That sounds like a problem with the system. I think what Manchin is doing is unconscionable, but the system allows him to have an opinion. The system put too much trust in one man. Change both the man and the system.
