Grad workers at the largest university in the nation's 3rd largest city are officially on strike today. @uicgeo members are hitting picket lines at buildings across campus.
Chicagoans: pls pay attn to what's happening at UIC. 1500 grad workers w/ @uicgeo are poised to begin an indefinite strike next Monday to win a new contract. They're the lowest paid grad workers in Chicago, making $20K (before fees) while grads at other local unis make $28-32.

The one positive thing I can say is that a few years ago, I said I was tired of only becoming aware of a force for disability rights because they had died; I sure as hell knew who Judy Heumann was while she was alive and I am deeply grateful for it.

@Audrey006 @AcademicChatter I’ve got a symphony of focus tunes— ranging from jazz, sitar, lo-fi, classical, and anything in a foreign language. Music helps me focus, and I get to passively explore new music genres and artists. My whole house is rigged with a sound system. My neighbors love me.
