not allowing unvaccinated people to participate in stuff has been standard for like a hundred years. why is this suddenly controversial?
some of the replies to this are absolutely B. A. N. A. N. A. S.
@BFriedmanDC I couldn't start kindergarten without being vaccinated.
@BFriedmanDC I can’t get my dog groomed at Petco without proof of vaccination
@BFriedmanDC Standard? Nah…. Other than K-12 and summer camp, I cannot recall EVER being required to show proof of vaccination. College, nope. Jobs, nope. Travel, nope (granted, I’ve never been to parts of the world where malaria vax was req’d). Concerts, nope. Sporting Events, nope.
@BFriedmanDC That's just not the case outside of school for most people. I'm 49. The last time I had to prove immunization was 1994 when I entered grad school. Never since. I'm not opposed to it, but don't pretend we're used to proving our vaccine status to go places. It's new. That's OK.
@BFriedmanDC Participate in "stuff"? In what "stuff"? I don't think I've had to show a vaccination record in my adult life. Maybe when I went off to college, but that was at 17, not "adult life", so. Childhood vax records are probably lost by now. I'm vaxxed vs. covid but this is an odd claim
@BFriedmanDC If everyone had a vaccination & numbers of those stricken decreased by a gazillion, perhaps evidence of sensible & honorable actions would not be necessary. Guess what? I’m a Boomer & I remember Public swimming pools being off limits b/c of polio. Guess when we got to return?
@BFriedmanDC I love the hot take “I never had to show my records for college” Yeah because your mom did your college application.
@BFriedmanDC "not allowing unvaccinated people to participate in stuff has been standard for like a hundred years." I'm curious, please site some examples of adults being band from doing stuff if unable to prove vaccination status. When and in what context has this been a standard?
@BFriedmanDC My guess would be because in the past the vaccines being pushed had plenty of research, years of it, before they were heavily pushed and were fully FDA approved at the time and not only on emergency authorization only. But that would just make this whole situation far to simple
