@Samir_Madani Could this be sabotage? There is a country right now aiming to invade a neighbour. If sanctions are placed there are fears it could retaliate by turning off the taps to Europe. Having less oil flow in the system would only raise prices in the short term wouldn't it?
@MFHoz The macro for oil is extremely bullish. There is just not that much spare production capacity out there.
@GeromanAT @theragex You sure? Even Russian media has reported that the military has provided Putin with options for Ukraine.
@MarQs__ I read Ukraine was only going to start this when the invasion started because they couldn't afford to keep the military on alert like this. Ukraine must have received some bad intelligence.
Looks like Nigeria was short about 40,000 barrels of oil a day in forecasted production #bullish
@RadikalerdMitte @larisamlbrown @MarQs__ Indeed. However its a downward spiral to war in Ukraine. Putin says stop helping Ukraine & provide legal guarantees they won’t join NATO or we’ll use military options. The west steps up their assistance in response.
Something’s gotta give or there will be tragedy in Ukraine.
@markmackinnon A readiness check to defend against external threats to the union I might add. Also seems Belarus has called up reserves.
@ProRevScot @Andy_Scollick Was passing by on his morning jog and thought to sit in because he overheard the conversation and found it fascinating 😂
@VMette2001 @AnthonyMRoberto Nice to see. I assume this is for expedited training and to prepare diplomats for leaving the country. Canada has a rather large Ukrainian population living in the prairies.
Pretty amazing to watch the Brits and Canadians lead in sticking up for Ukraine while the USA attempts to woo Germany to no avail and France does nothing
@business Shouldn’t the headline read as geopolitical tensions flare up in Eastern Europe? Ukraine-Russia? Prices will go to the moon if Russia retaliates to sanctions by shutting off the taps.
@ELINTNews The rush to have these delivered by the UK is telling.
@Mediaite @RecoverRepub @PaulBegala LOL. Hillary generalizing Trump voters as deplorable helped her lose the election; now criticizing your own voters is the secret sauce to winning? Good luck with that.
“On Jan. 5, 18 people — mostly the children and wives of Russian diplomats — boarded buses and embarked on a 15-hour drive home to Moscow, according to a senior Ukrainian security official.” nytimes.com/2022/01/17/us/…
@BurggrabenH I mean if rates are going to be normalizing this year so should yields
@aarondmiller2 I’m pretty sure we are about to see something happen in Europe that is going to put the Iran deal negotiations on the back burner for awhile.
It does seem like the rift between Germany and the west on what to do about a Russian invasion of Ukraine is much bigger than being reported. twitter.com/Liveuamap/stat…
Russian military convoys from the Far East have entered Belarus. Belarus is believed to be another front Putin might use in the event of a Ukrainian invasion. twitter.com/k_ahlis/status…
Direct Putin Quote: “If a fight is inevitable, you must strike first.”
He’s not bluffing. Chechnya, Syria, Ossetia, Abkhazia, Crimea and the Donbas show you that. twitter.com/ELuttwak/statu…
@johnhhaskell @samagreene @Nat_Vasilyeva Not sure about that for Russia. People legitimately don't trust the Russian government in a different way then here. I know people in Russia who would get the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine but won't get Sputnik because they don't trust it.
