Get rid of the NFL’s taunting rules.
@DandurandScott @FieldYates I think the rule is something like '0' gets a full second just like every other number and then they blow the whistle. I'm not saying that's correct or even really how counting works, I just remember announcers talking about it before.
@AjangoGrant @DandurandScott @FieldYates That is how counting works! The rule is obviously correct as is. If we count down from 3 we hit numbers like 2.5 and 0.5 without saying them. The time with zero on the clock represents 0.9 through 0. Thus 1 second on the clock.
@AaronW_A_W @DandurandScott @FieldYates Very fair and very good explanation. 👍🏻 Never thought of it like that. I just know it's an anxiety-filled second both if it's my QB on 0 or the opposing QB. 😂
@AjangoGrant @DandurandScott @FieldYates There are still some valid problems with the system. Since the NFL doesn't have decimals we don't know when it reaches 0.0 as opposed 0.1. It's an unnecessary judgment call. It also means that every number on the play clock is misleading since 25 actually means 25.9 to 25.
@AjangoGrant @DandurandScott @FieldYates And this means a true 30 second play clock is almost 31 seconds long. But we could fix all this if the clocks just added decimals (like the NBA has).
@AaronW_A_W @AjangoGrant @DandurandScott @FieldYates Or a buzzer that way it's easy to tell if the ball was snapped before or after the buzzer
