Kids shouldn’t be looking for support/feedback from parents during games. When it’s not necessary for them to look for parents in the stands to get validation, it shows their maturity level is improving. Encourage them to rely on themselves & focus on competing & staying present!

High school coaches often times are kids’ last chance to be held accountable & prepped for the real world Often times talented kids are pushed through until high school with no accountability, no discipline, & even taken advantage of for wins Our job is vital if done right
Definitely not all adults (thank you, @CentralLaxMA families 🥰) but far too many. We need to figure it out and let them be kids. Sports are a vehicle to learn life skills and have fun - we need to remember that
The focus of youth sports has gone from a place where kids can make friends, learn skills and have fun, to a place where *adults* feed their ego, live vicariously through their kid, and talk trash about coaches and other people’s children. Sad & pathetic
Question - do you go to tournaments to get seen or to improve and your team to play well? College athletes - do you go to practice to win a spot or make your team better? Both can be true but the foundation should be improvement and team. Hard to do but will serve everyone best
Sometimes switching the focus can help you get out of your head and avoid external factors. The intentionality on “we not me” can connect you to something bigger - simply working hard and improving - which will also help you play your best. Win win

Somewhere along the line, society started thinking that tearing down others is “cool”. You wanna know what’s cool: • Saying thank you • Helping strangers • Listening to learn • Being on time • Empowering others • Being where your feet are • Giving without expectations
