Banning smartphones in schools is good for learning and well-being. New study of 400+ middle schools in Norway: after smartphone bans, girls had fewer mental health issues & better grades. Boys and girls were less likely to be bullied. Smartphones belong at home or in lockers.

@CoachDavidKlein Yep they get to practice against older siblings/siblings friends their whole childhood. Playing baseball every summer with my older brother's friends was huge for my development.
@CoachDavidKlein Birth order is key. If you have to fight for every pork chop and dinner, you are going to be aggressive on the field.

@CoachDavidKlein We have 3 kids. Boys are older and youngest. Boys are 4 years apart. Our oldest is a very good athlete, probably better than the youngest when our oldest was 6, but the youngest has a chip on his shoulder and much more of an edge to him. I'd bet on him being better by HS.

@CoachDavidKlein My first is doing awesome in sports, he's a junior Olympian. My second thinks he's garbage because he sees how his big brother is doing and compares himself to him. I keep telling him that at his age he is much better than his brother. He doesn't believe me.

@CoachDavidKlein I have 3 boys FWIW... 15yr - least athletic, hardest worker, high interest 13yr - mid athletic, mid worker, low interest 10yr - very athletic, low worker, mid-high interest
Usually a direct result of having 2 older/more physically developed people to compete against.
The 2nd child is always a beast. But if there’s a 3rd kid, they’re often the best athlete of the 3.
