given the offenses left, getting Jimmy G in the Super Bowl would be such a let down
@ColtsAuth_Kyle the niners and shanahan feel like the apex versions of what the colts and reich want to be
@leastweraged Definitely the same flavor but certainly hope they're not the apex
@ColtsAuth_Kyle i mean i like shanahan/lynch A LOT more than reich/ballard. lance in that offense with that personnel could be special.
@leastweraged Ah, gotcha. I actually don't think there's much of a difference between those two pairs.
@ColtsAuth_Kyle they seem to have better priorities (investing in passing game, trading less important pieces for assets, featuring talented offensive pieces as many ways as possible) and have better personnel at the key positions (qb, tackle, wr, edge and corner)
@leastweraged Eh, I don't actually think their priorities, FO or coaching wise, are meaningfully different. And those roster differences (aside from CB, which I'm not sure is better) are true *now* but necessarily in previous seasons.
@ColtsAuth_Kyle yeah but they are true now and unless/until something more telling than an angry postseason presser from the gm happens that signals real organizational soul-searching i don’t see why it would change
@leastweraged Well, I have no idea what those two teams are going to look like next year, much less in, say, 2023. I'm just saying that the 49ers having a marginally better roster in 2021 isn't indicative of the entire five-year regime
@ColtsAuth_Kyle it’s probably not the best comparison but then again i don’t know if there is another situation quite like the colts since the end of 2018.
@leastweraged Oh, I think it's a good comparison! They're very similar franchises.
@ColtsAuth_Kyle i guess the difference is that the niners made smarter roster decisions and took more risks? maybe we’re just luckier?
