Dick's burgers in Seattle: *$19 min wage *Free health care for workers *3 weeks paid vacation *50% 401(k) match *9,000 for tuition or childcare *$1.80 basic burger *Plenty of job applicants There's no labor shortage. There's a shortage of companies willing to pay a living wage.
Dick's president: “A business, first step, is it has to make a profit. The next step is to invest in your employees. They’ll take better care of your customers, which will help you earn more profit." Why is this so controversial in the business world? mynorthwest.com/3177050/how-do…
@DanPriceSeattle I’m glad I don’t live next door to Dick’s, I would weigh 500 pounds.
@DanPriceSeattle Ah Dick's. That favored post-clubbing grease post. One time the guy in front of me tried to get his burger slightly different, and the counter guy was like "YOU WANNA BURGER? GO TO BURGER KING. YOU WANNA DICK'S? COME TO DICK'S." Miss that place.
@DanPriceSeattle So here is the deal Dan. Right now in GA a big Mac meal is 7.99. If my McDonald's has to pay my workers 18.00 minimum wage then I have to charge 14.75 for that same meal. How many people do you think will pay that? No one!! And then my business closes and there are no jobs.
@DanPriceSeattle @jimmy_dore If it is economically feasible, some entrepreneurs will do it. I however have never ever seen any lefty activists create well paid jobs. Must not be paying much attention 😜
@DanPriceSeattle We need to identify all businesses with fair wages and benefits for employees. Patronize only those establishments.
