@dmm12345 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein So we talk about how important it is for all eligible voters to vote and you joke about how making it easier for people to vote is just silly. Is voting important or is it not?
@Educ_in_Latvia @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein There is no need to make it easier to vote, because it's already extremely easy to vote. The idea that voting rights are in serious jeopardy is a cynical lie used to grift willing rubes. Which voting law is most concerning to you?
@dmm12345 @Educ_in_Latvia @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein Maybe it is for you, and maybe it is for more, but everyone is not you or me. There are many situations where people cannot vote with ease. You should hope that shoe is never on your own foot, but you will not because you're the willing rube that can't get outside your own bubble
@Nani_Manu99 @Educ_in_Latvia @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein It's easy for almost everyone. Getting an ID is easy for everyone, it's just that some ppl don't care enough to do it, and then political operatives get frustrated when trying to get those ppl to vote for them is harder. For whom do you think it's hard to vote?
@dmm12345 @Nani_Manu99 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein I worked with homeless vet's and NO getting an id isn't easy. It can be very difficult especially if you don't have good transport or are uncomfortable dealing with officialdom.
@Educ_in_Latvia @Nani_Manu99 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein Yes, I'm sure just about everything is harder for homeless people, but it's still not intolerably difficult. The good news is that at this point you're talking about numbers that wouldn't affect the outcome of almost any election.
@dmm12345 @Nani_Manu99 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein OOOhhhh... changing goalposts. If someone doesn't have an ID, it is not as easy as you think. Also, various states are shutting down polling places (and ID issuing offices) in largely minority areas. The point isn't 'affect(ing) the outcome', the point is to let people vote.
@Educ_in_Latvia @Nani_Manu99 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein I'm not moving the goalposts. It's still true that it's extremely easy to vote for the vast majority of people. That doesn't mean there aren't individual cases that are more difficult. Which states are doing that?

@Educ_in_Latvia @Nani_Manu99 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein Did you read the article or just the headline?
@dmm12345 @Nani_Manu99 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein "McLennan county, home to Waco, Texas, closed 44% of its polling places from 2012 to 2018, despite the fact that its population grew by more than 15,000 people during the same time period, with more than two-thirds of that growth coming from Black and Latinx residents."
@Educ_in_Latvia @Nani_Manu99 @ErikLundegaard @ezraklein Was this part of the push toward centralized, which makes voting more convenient any results in fewer votes being invalidated, and which was supported by both Republicans and Democrats, as described above? Do you have any evidence that ppl has difficulty voting in Waco?
