Breaking News: The heart of President Biden's climate agenda — a push to replace coal- and gas-fired power plants — is said to likely be cut from the budget bill because Senator Joe Manchin opposes it. nyti.ms/3aHKAv7
@nytimes I’ve got news for @Sen_JoeManchin electric utilities are accelerating transition to 100% renewables whether you try to hold us hostage to your coal interests or not. Coal is dead. Nobody wants it or politicians who block smart legislation. Get out of the way or we’ll move you out
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin he doesnt have to sell his coal here, there are many places in the world to ruin...
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin My first thoughts exactly. He’s a Luddite resisting the inevitable. The already favorable economics of renewables will have the final say and WV coal miners will be (and already are) the biggest losers.
@Elee912 @LexAlexander @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin If @Sen_JoeManchin was smarter, he’d drag every one of those miners OUT of the mines and get them CDLs, put them to work as truck drivers in high paying union jobs with great benefits. Who needs black lung disease anyway? The country needs tens of thousands of truck drivers.
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin You need coal to heat your house in the winter, there's a good reason why europe's power grid is absolute shit right now!
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin He needs to be gone like shale and coal
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin By no means am I an advocate for total free market capitalism, but I think we're going to have to switch to focusing on pressuring the private sector into making these changes. Working through the govt is obviously not going to get these changes done at the speed we need to go.
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin Coal is dead huh? time.com/6090732/china-…
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin Then let the free market decide then, not the federal government
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin Yep and it is happening fairly quickly. :) eia.gov/energyexplaine…
@Elee912 @nytimes @Sen_JoeManchin Agreed the market is pushing renewables because they are not just lower carbon but because they make more sense all around look at Lebanon entire country ran out of fuel for their electricity this has gotta end
