Key Biodiversity Areas have been designated based on only 2% of terrestrial species. Yet if more and more species are added, then everywhere becomes a priority area. Read our new paper where we call for data-driven prioritisation @FarooqHarith @FaurbySoren tinyurl.com/3h9x5vt2
@jgeldmann It just doesn't understand the concept of citation. It just learned how they look on the articles and writes text to look similar to them 😅 There are other Ai engines that will give you the text with real citations though!
@_jana_schultz @Macroecology @Noguesbravo @jgeldmann @AFI_WUR Have fun in the 🇳🇱! It was nice sharing the office with you even though you weren’t supposed to be there 🤣

After two years, 8453 R errors, and 7563 slack messages, it finally happened! Our reviews on Malagasy biodiversity are out in @ScienceMagazine! 😀@KewScience @TeamKMCC @antonelli_lab @GGBC_GU @FieldMuseum et al. Read them: bit.ly/3B2d5RX & bit.ly/3XNWx9S

ISCAP claims an attack on 13/01/2022 in Sitati (?), about 60 houses burned and an attack on Friday 14/01/2022 in Pitolha, 20 houses burned down, both in #Meluco district.

#Luneke village, located at the epicenter of the #Nangade District , was attacked by insurgents around noon. Because of this attack, traffic between Mueda to Nangade was interrupted. It is recalled that for days the Joint Armed Forces activated alert level 5 and relentlessly

Extinct or just shy? Just because a species hasn’t been seen in a long time doesn’t mean it is gone! Listen to GGBC’er @FarooqHarith on @SRvetenskap in an extended interview today about the project. @antonelli_lab @Naturvetenskap @goteborgsuni sverigesradio.se/avsnitt/forlor…
"One sentence in a book leads researchers to a species not seen in over 100 years" in @TC_Africa. Lab members @FarooqHarith & @DrSlimeMold wrote about how the students in their #ExtinctOrShy project finally found a montane skink in Mozambique!! @GGBC_GU theconversation.com/one-sentence-i…

Forskare hittade sällsynt ödla - efter 100 år. En nästan hundra år gammal anteckning ledde forskare till en art som inte setts på mer än ett sekel. Nu får ödlan ”montane skink” åter strålkastarljuset på sig.

Our article on the #ExtinctOrShy skink find is getting attention! So cool to see how many people are excited about this little critter, drawing attention to just how much scientists still have to learn (& re-learn) about #biodiversity and data-deficient species. For more than 100 years, nobody was sure whether the montane skink, a lizard, was extinct or just very good at hiding. It was last spotted in Mozambique in 1918. Now, thanks to a combination of field work and detective skills, the mystery is solved. bit.ly/3bfn8pr

Very excited that the @NHM_London posted a piece on our recent @CommsBio publication and ties it in nicely with @FarooqHarith and co-authors' publication in Systematic Biology on Mapping Africa's Biodiversity (link to papers below) nhm.ac.uk/discover/news/…
