2 weeks agoKey Biodiversity Areas have been designated based on only 2% of terrestrial species. Yet if more and more species are added, then everywhere becomes a priority area. Read our new paper where we call for data-driven prioritisation @FarooqHarith @FaurbySoren tinyurl.com/3h9x5vt2

3 weeks ago@jgeldmann It just doesn't understand the concept of citation. It just learned how they look on the articles and writes text to look similar to them 😅 There are other Ai engines that will give you the text with real citations though!

a year ago"One sentence in a book leads researchers to a species not seen in over 100 years" in @TC_Africa. Lab members @FarooqHarith & @DrSlimeMold wrote about how the students in their #ExtinctOrShy project finally found a montane skink in Mozambique!! @GGBC_GU theconversation.com/one-sentence-i…

Naturvetenskap/GU @Naturvetenskap
a year agoForskare hittade sällsynt ödla - efter 100 år. En nästan hundra år gammal anteckning ledde forskare till en art som inte setts på mer än ett sekel. Nu får ödlan ”montane skink” åter strålkastarljuset på sig.

a year agoOur article on the #ExtinctOrShy skink find is getting attention! So cool to see how many people are excited about this little critter, drawing attention to just how much scientists still have to learn (& re-learn) about #biodiversity and data-deficient species. a year agoFor more than 100 years, nobody was sure whether the montane skink, a lizard, was extinct or just very good at hiding. It was last spotted in Mozambique in 1918. Now, thanks to a combination of field work and detective skills, the mystery is solved. bit.ly/3bfn8pr
