The most saddening aspect of this case is that the outcome is not surprising. It's why our justice system does not work for victims of sexual assault. Our justice systems need to be more accessible, trauma-informed, & less adversarial for victims of crime. smh.com.au/politics/feder…
@FionaPattenMLC Let’s fill the gaols with innocent suspects because their lawyer couldn’t provide a proper defence.
@FionaPattenMLC Who set out to abort the trial? It was obviously deliberate.
@FionaPattenMLC Fiona, have you ever been a plaintiff or a defendant in any hearings?
@FionaPattenMLC Another atonishing defamation, this time from an MP. Until there has been a guilty verdict, there is no "victim" in this case. Bruce Lehrmann could pursue a lot of people in court and almost certainly win.
@FionaPattenMLC 100% Fiona. We must work urgently to change the system.
@FionaPattenMLC I actually think it worked properly here… baseless accusations with little evidence SHOULD NOT be even in the court system. You’re taking away from the women who actually suffer and not people like this looking to ruin someone’s life for no valid reason.
@FionaPattenMLC Hang on, they dropped the charges a few weeks before the trial ? He does not get his day in court. She was happy to hold a rally with thousands of people earlier this year, but not see this thru ?
@FionaPattenMLC I disagree with all the publicity surrounding these cases. No one except those directly involved in the case and trial ought to know about it. It's bad for the victims, and even if the accused is found not guilty, they've already been judged by the public.
@FionaPattenMLC This really isn’t that difficult, her life is in danger for going to the witness stand? If so then it’s a failure of security not of the justice system, if they’re pulling out their case how is it at all the justice systems fault?
