if $TSLA installs 400MW of solar panels in a year that's about 80,000 homes worth? when will this 100X to 8M homes? @elonmusk 2030?
@Earth2Ceres @elonmusk its hella hard to scale individual/custom roof installs
@Gfilche @Earth2Ceres @elonmusk I think the limiting factor could be the grid itself. Either need to expand the grid to handle the extra transfers of energy or swap out existing energy infrastructure which may see political resistance.
@Gfilche @Earth2Ceres @elonmusk Much easier to start with solar kits for people to install themselves on the floor or horizontal roof. This alleviates the biggest constraint: labour. No need 4 a lot; 700W takes 2 panels, and covers or even exceeds much of the consumption during a sunny day.
@Gfilche @Earth2Ceres @elonmusk Which is why solar roofs need to be designed into the building of the home. Installing solar roofing after the fact is more costly.
@Gfilche @Earth2Ceres @elonmusk Actually it's quite easy when done by a competent roofer with solar experience. I have two major clients who have done hundreds of thousands across the US. $TSLA does NOT have the capability.
@Gfilche @Earth2Ceres @elonmusk why not just solar farms
