Today is World Down Syndrome Day - a day to advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome all over the world. Why March 21, or 03/21? The day was chosen to represent the triplication of the 21st set of chromosomes, which causes Down syndrome.
This year's theme is "With Us, Not For Us." It serves as a reminder that people with Down syndrome need to be just as much a part of the work being done to secure them the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
People with Down Syndrome can do anything! Drive a car, learn the piano, ride a bike, and much more. The best people to learn about Down syndrome from, are those who have it! Visit the @CdnDownSyndrome website for educational tools, videos, and FAQs: cdss.ca/world-down-syn…
