Id Software very nearly got acquired by Activision, before winding up with Zenimax. Interesting that both roads would have led to Microsoft in the end. @BobbyKotick was always supportive, and it is quite an achievement to lead a company through that much growth over that long.

@KralN @BobbyKotick I don’t have super-strong opinions about it, but a small handful of very strong game publishing companies doesn’t seem obviously worse to me than fifty struggling ones.
@ID_AA_Carmack @KralN @BobbyKotick Its a very interesting question because of whats happening with meta and the quest. I find anti monoply laws are stupid in the hands of companies that are about inovation. With meta I beleive they should be able to keep the quest at the price point they are selling without it
@ID_AA_Carmack @KralN @BobbyKotick Dude is legit ignoring all the other replies ☠️
@ID_AA_Carmack @KralN @BobbyKotick But I wouldn't exactly see a lot of companies like Zenimax and Blizzard as "struggling" - seems ActiBliz was doing just fine in spite of all of the (earned) vitriol they've recieved
@ID_AA_Carmack @KralN @BobbyKotick Building the foundations of the metaverse wouldn't have anything to do with this lack of opinion, would it John?
