This is not just an article, this is a truly good essay. Rarely have I read anything this well written from any politician. Do read it. It puts all the usual boilerplate, happy talk and empty clichés to shame. I am genuinely impressed. I rarely am. gov.uk/government/new…
@IlvesToomas @BWallaceMP I trust you saw this from former President of Estonia @IlvesToomas, Ben ^ :)
@IlvesToomas @tomdelonge Good points but I don’t think pointing out Putins obvious wrong reasons for war is particularly enlightening
@IlvesToomas @edwardlucas Poland understands that if “Ukraine is part of Russia”, then so are they.
@IlvesToomas @UnwinPaul I heard Tobias Ellwood on the news yesterday (might have been BBC), he was knowledge too about this situation.
@IlvesToomas Fantastic article. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. This line "So, if one cold January or February night Russian Military forces once more cross into sovereign Ukraine", is particularly scary. It's going to happen, isn't it?
@IlvesToomas I have read the article by Secretary of State for Defense, Ben Wallace leaves me in awe and a more clarified perspective of how volatile this situation has become.
@IlvesToomas @spawnofKahn "...Article 5 that obliges all members to come to the aid of a fellow member if it is under attack... This obligation protects us all." Does nobody see why Russia might be sensitive about Ukraine's NATO membership status? Pre-WWI alliances were meant to be defensive as well.
@IlvesToomas @Dirtfarmr did you see this comment?
@IlvesToomas I must have missed Nato's "no ifs, no buts" defensive pact coming to the UK's aid when Argentina attacked and occupied UK sovereign soil in the #Falklands.
