A high profile journal just rejected my proposal for a review article and listed their decision criteria. One of them was “authoritativeness of the author”. It runs so counter to inclusivity in science and implies that newcomers cannot produce good science! 😫
@ElenaLitchman It is appalling at many levels. Please consider @ESAMonographs as an outlet for your review. We surely appreciate your authoritativeness and we try hard to treat everyone the same i.e., with respect
@bugEcology @ElenaLitchman @ESAMonographs And if it is a shorter review, please consider @ESAEcology! We are looking for good papers and welcome submissions from all interested authors.
@KathyCottingham @bugEcology @ElenaLitchman @ESAMonographs @ESAEcology Oh, you know what I'm gonna say---sorry JP and Kathy, and I absolutely love ESA journals and think you publish amazing stuff--but if it's got a 'synthesis' component, I'd be delighted to consider it for @Ecology_Letters.
@Jon_Chase03 @KathyCottingham @ElenaLitchman @ESAMonographs @ESAEcology @Ecology_Letters No problem Jon! Lots of good options! Our Concepts & Synthesis editor @mschleuni would certainly welcome a submission for that section! :-)
