"Career prosecutors have recommended against charging Rep. Matt Gaetz..telling..superiors that a conviction is unlikely in part because of credibility questions with the two central witnesses..it is rare for such advice to be rejected" washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
@JoyceWhiteVance Not a lawyer, but why would anyone on the prosecution team discuss this?
@JoyceWhiteVance I don’t understand this: charges can’t be brought because they feel they won’t get a conviction? Or is it that they actually feel he did nothing wrong bc witnesses were unreliable? It makes a difference in terms of doing what is right.
@JoyceWhiteVance Sounds like daddy got to the prosecutors. $$$
@JoyceWhiteVance Gaetz and a whole bunch of others, including DeSantis are probably all involved in the financial corruption related to Joel Greenberg. Be patient. They all have a date with justice
@JoyceWhiteVance @fxp123 I’m tired of the rule of law being set aside for wealthy white men!
@JoyceWhiteVance This is why it is always safest not to assume that a prosecution is imminent, no matter how strong the evidence seems on the news channels. Federal prosecutors are a (small "c") conservative lot, and rarely go forward with a prosecution that is not a slam dunk.
@JoyceWhiteVance Tell me again about “No one is above the law.” If prosecutors lock up a 16 y/o black kid on Rikers Island for 3 years for allegedly stealing a backpack, without ever going to trial, tell me there isn’t two systems of justice in America. “F” Matt Gaetz npr.org/sections/thetw…
@JoyceWhiteVance That is unbelievable! I hope prosecutors change their minds or their superiors overrule them and potentially add more charges!
