What happened to Indigenous children in residential schools was, and is, inexcusable. Today in Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc, we came together to pay respects to Le Estcwéý̓ - the children who went missing - and to honour the survivors who are committed to building a better future.
To those we heard from today: thank you. I hear you when you say that the path forward must include real action, and that this is not a burden for First Nation, Métis, and Inuit people to carry alone. Our government will continue to walk down the path of reconciliation with you.
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM @JustinTrudeau, you "honour the survivors who are committed to building a better future." But I'm not sure you're committed to building a better future for the Indigenous members of our society.
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM Let’s move forward now.
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM Mr. Prime Minister, while it's very courageous and moral to accept the mistakes of the past, it is also even more courageous and more challenging to make sure this doesn't happen again, or similar forms of injustice and oppression. I couldn't emphasize this more.
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM Milk that politically for all it’s worth.
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM Today’s ceremony was lovely, showed how wonderful big hearted B.C First Nations are, all indigenous people in that matter. This healing will make PMJT even more stronger of a leader who’s determined to walk the healing path with indigenous people, even further!
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM What is still happening to Indigenous is inexcusable.
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM How can you talk about building a better future when you’re not talking about the physical violence between spouses, sexual abuse involving the children, alcohol and substance abuse, suicides…all the damages done by the residential school systems in Canada 🇨🇦 ? #cdnpoli
@JustinTrudeau @Tkemlups @MarcMillerVM Let's Go Brandon!
