That actually didn’t happen the way it was published everywhere. There’s literally no remnant of that here and during 2020 people living here were dar more free than we were in LA. A picture of Putin, at the WEF, who has been removed from the site, means nothing. Reality paints a different picture. Technology is not something the country is known for, if anything the government operates old school. There’s a segment of people in independent media that follow this trend of making analysis of nations without ever having actually 1) understood their governments and diplomatic ways 2) without having ever been there. It’s reductionist to think Russia, China and Western Europe are all in agreement in everything. It misses reality.

People of course found ways around it but the QR code acted as a “hall pass” to go to and from work. Alarming to use tech like this. Track every move. Glad we didn’t have that here
