When 49ers did Deebo Samuel’s contract last summer, they built in a 2023 option bonus — essentially a chance to restructure deal this year. Same amount of $, just a conversation of $9.215m to base salary if paid out as a signing bonus by today. That $$ spread out thru 2027 vs cap
This courtesy @corryjoel. Keeping/paying the option bonus is necessary for 49ers to stay cap compliant. That’s why it has been assumed by the cap sites that SF would pay it. No official word on whether/not they have but I assume it’s merely a technicality and the answer is yes
@LombardiHimself I think he will be gone in 2 years, no way they can keep spending like this with Bosa and Aiyuk extensions. Armstead the same.
@LombardiHimself Thanks for sharing, this is really interesting. It means that the 49ers continue to be flush with cash from Levi's Stadium, right?
@LombardiHimself Is there a deadline for time? Like does it have be done by 12am EST?
