It is unconscionable that a city of 900,000 people has a downtown that's essentially a parking lot. (Columbus, OH)
@the_transit_guy There's a lot of surface lots to fill in for sure, but the 40,000 foot view does not always match the human scale experience. There's a lot of value to be found in Downtown Columbus today and ample room to infill and grow and improve. It's getting better, not worse.
@WalkerEvans @the_transit_guy The gentrification of Columbus is appalling. Pushing POC and lower income folks further out. This is redlining on steroids. Y’all feel good about how Cbus is so livable, but only if you make 150k.
@vachefg @the_transit_guy Columbus has room to add thousands of people without displacing anyone & most low-income housing is built in the inner city. I'd love to see our suburbs pick up the slack when it comes to supporting POC & low-income residents, because they currently fight against it.
@WalkerEvans @vachefg @the_transit_guy The lack of endorsement from the Franklin County Democrats for COTA and subsequent pulling of the transit ballot levy- followed by announcing service cuts- is not a good look from the ground level for riders in Central Ohio.
@MOVEOhio @vachefg @the_transit_guy You're right that our bus system is struggling right now, but that problem is not unique to Columbus. Transit agencies all over the US are still reeling from the aftermath of the pandemic and the work-from-home shift: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
