Physician Associates , and the BMA and MRCGP responses. While I was truly pleased to see reasonably simple, clear guidelines on the use of PAs from the RCGP and the BMA, I fear these have come too late. The horse has long since bolted and may be very hard to catch.
A large number of the GPs who have lost their jobs to PAs, as a result of the government's in equitable funding, will be women. Locum and salaried posts fit in well with child care. Something to think about on women's day.
Congratulations to the doctors who brought the PA experiment to light, exposing the inappropriate use of PAswhich has increased risk to patients. Also exposing how government subsidies for PAs have resulted in the firing of salaried GPS and a dearth of locum jobs.

@Ask_foradoctor The consultant was right. I have had PAs ask to be “reminded” on how to take history frm difft specialties, each time I refused and asked for pt to be booked with a Dr. How can a consultant provide advice/ guidance based on an assmt frm an individual without defined competency
@huntertotheworl @MarySloper2 I was so sad when my soursop tree died . In hindsight that may have been divine intervention. My sweet sop tree is now leafing up for a new crop but the birds usually get them before me . Grandma would say that we should not be sorry over disappointment.

Have been much much happier recently. Have managed to divorce myself from what happened to me. I will get justice one day. Just really learnt to love and appreciate those around me, and I’m truly blessed by the most amazing friends. Not forgetting the kind words of a few on here…

This is totally, totally nuts. Either you need standards and exams and years of training or you don’t. We are going backwards . UK primary care used to be ‘jewel in the crown’ of NHS. Now, esp with appalling %uplift in England, is designing it to fail. Utterly preventable tragedy
