My new post with @_HannahRitchie is out. We are trying to improve the situation of the @IEA. The title is: ‘The IEA publishes the detailed, global energy data we all need, but its funders force it behind paywalls. Let’s ask them to change it.’ ourworldindata.org/iea-open-data
As we explained in that post, it’s the energy ministers who are responsible. They could change it and make this data and research available to the public. If you want to help, you can write to them and tell them that the public needs this data

@MaxCRoser @_HannahRitchie @IEA You know, I think I owe y'all an apology. I find myself using OWID so often that I forget how much research, advocacy, and labor it's taken to make it the invaluable resource it is today. This post was a great reminder there, so thank you, for this and well, everything else :)
@MaxCRoser @patrickc @_HannahRitchie @IEA For what it’s worth, the IEA has done a poor job of projecting the decline of coal and adoption of solar/wind. No one there seems to understand S-curves and only extrapolate in linear way. Probably bc of special interests?
@MaxCRoser @_HannahRitchie @IEA This paywall has cost me hours and hours of wasted time researching decarbonization. Do you know who the US minister is I can contact?
@MaxCRoser @OurWorldInData @_HannahRitchie @IEA @GregHands what is your problem with this entirely sensible proposal?
