One brief burst of clearing that never came close to being repeated all day gave me a majestic birds-eye view of Mount Washington and its massive shoulder known as Chandler Ridge, along with the top two thirds of the auto road, which follows that rocky spine up from the notch.
On the plus side, I enjoyed some terrific views of the notch from those cliffs, despite the overcast and fog.
