It’s all-too-common to meet a skilled newcomer trained as an engineer, doctor, etc, working in a low-wage job that doesn’t relate to their profession. Proud to be with @PEO_HQ to announce that they’re the first association to remove the Canadian work experience requirement.
@MonteMcNaughton @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment Hmm, when I need a tradesperson to do work around my house, I research. I consider recommendations & reviews, local availability, how long have they been in business, pricing & their COMMUNICATION SKILLS. Usually get 3 quotes. I certainly do NOT take advice from a PC MPP!
Great. Next time when we need work done around the house we can try hiring professional engineers. The average salary for electrical engineers in ON at $77k may be lower now than what construction electricians average. Plumbers are usually even more expensive. electricalindustry.ca/latest-article… ca.indeed.com/m/jobs?q=Const…
@MonteMcNaughton @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment Well, that's your problem, isn't it! You've had 5 years to rectify this issue! Getting it done eh?
@MonteMcNaughton @RobinMartinPC @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment You're right.....right?
@MonteMcNaughton @fordnation @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment My son has been trying to get into the trades. It’s not as easy as you say it is. Crying for help but
@MonteMcNaughton @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment You mean the proposal that OSPE has been working on since 2021? So it took you two years to enact legislation to drop the 1 year requirement, while you can't control how companies hire. Much ado about nothing. Move it along.
@MonteMcNaughton @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment I wonder if your claim that the requirement of “Canadian work experience” is “unfair or discriminatory” will open up opportunities for previously denied applicants to pursue compensation? “Unfair or discriminatory” are hefty labels.
@MonteMcNaughton @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment Prior to the removal of Canadian work experience, your document states that in 2019 Ontario had 85,649 engineers with 24,258 who were internationally trained and registered in the profession. Is this not evidence that the accreditation program was working?
@MonteMcNaughton @PEO_HQ @DeepakAnandMPP @SherefSabawyPC @NEW_Employment “Each year, up to 60 per cent of the engineering licence applications that PEO receives are from internationally trained engineers”. Can you fact check this please? Of the 60%, how many were refused? How many couldn’t obtain CDN work experience? How many engineers do we need?
