A South Carolina barbecue chain known for its pro-segregation stance in a landmark 1960s case and its embrace of the Confederate flag in 2000 is facing allegations of racism and sexual harassment by the fired general manager of one of its restaurants. nbcnews.to/40m7Qam
@NBCNews You don't say. That's extremely surprising. I never would have guessed something like that would happen at a place like that.
@NBCNews When I lived there between 2006 - 2015, Maurice's had KKK literature in their restaurants.
It’s interesting how you can remember the 1960s but NBC staffers neurolyzed themselves to forget the 1970s where Senator Robert “KKK“ Byrd and Senator Joe Biden passed an anti-school desegregation bill. Why is 1950s/60s racism so bad but these current presidents race schism in the 1970s NBD?
@NBCNews We've made the decision when we moved here (no choice, military) that we would never give them, nor Chic-fil-A our business and we never have. Sometimes I feel like a little blue dot in a sea of red.
@NBCNews Sounds like they are trying to have it both ways. On the outside they look all civil rights are good but still harbor their old ways behind the scenes. This should not be tolerated by anyone. The employees who are subjected to this need to speak out.
@NBCNews I can’t stand the confederate flag, or people like this in general, but like, why did you apply to work there in the first place? I would never help people like this make a penny. I’d rather be broke.
@NBCNews Gee, what a surprise, said no one ever. Every day I pass one of their locations. You couldn't pay me to eat there.
@NBCNews More race--baiting disguised as "news." Thank you, NBC...😨
@NBCNews I hate to blame the victim, but did she not get the memo about this restaurant’s history?
