Spent the morning belligerently asking people where they’re really from. They didn’t like it much.
@OliDugmore If I river danced into a royal reception with a pint of Guinness, singing Danny Boy and quoting Sean O’Casey, you never know, someone might ask me about my Irish heritage.
@OliDugmore Lady SH knew she was making Ngozi uncomfortable but rattled on like a bus over a cliff, with an unseemly dose of self congratulation. Not much of a people person.
@OliDugmore @sunny They did this in the states last year. Glad it tricked over to tut UK 🇬🇧 😏💯
@OliDugmore As someone with a social science background, I can confirm that the qualitative data you have collected here is unusable 😂
@OliDugmore Totally. But also please go back through the media if you’re too young to remember how Kate was treated early on. She was deemed to be a trashy commoner and they were horribly classist towards her for years. It isn’t only racism. They’re mean to anyone new. So are the media.
@OliDugmore Oh bugger off. A black person is not native to England and a white person is not native to Africa. When either is asked where they are from they are being asked about their roots. What's wrong with that you feel safe - insecure - they/them whatevers?
@OliDugmore But this was not asked in the same context...the black lady was dressed up as an african but is actually carribean and didn't know the actual culture and heritage she had dressed up as..we pacific islanders and many cultures around the world would call that cultural appropriation
@OliDugmore In other words she lied about where she is from so when lady hussey asked her where her people are from she couldn't answer in a straight forward manner.
@OliDugmore Asking white people off the street who are clearly white britons is not the same as asking a person like me who does not look fully white where I'm from...I am originally from Fiji but my mother is originally from Manchester. My father is Fijian but has ancestry links to England.
