This is inarguably an act of cultural vandalism which the likes of Rupert Murdoch will be slavering over. The problem for the BBC is that it's alienated so many people who would have instinctively defended it, while - as we can see - nothing it does will ever satisfy the right.

@OwenJones84 “Nothing it does will ever satisfy the right” @NPR should take note.
@OwenJones84 @moocowe BBC has some great output over the years. It was only when I moved to England for work & then to Wales that I realised how England centric it is. Welsh/Scottish content is minimal and almost never shown in England. It is an English national broadcaster not UK.
@OwenJones84 The #BBC should be funded out of general taxation as a national asset. The licence fee seems designed to alienate people from Auntie Beeb. If we want an independent national broadcaster, the govt. needs far less influence. Holding to account is hard in a state of fear.
@OwenJones84 You’d also be moaning if the the put the fee up! It’s a no win situation really
@OwenJones84 I would pay a subscription to access Iplayer ..and I guess there are many that would as well.(Irish citizen ) from Ireland. There's more to the BBC than the news that appears to pass off both left and right .
@OwenJones84 In that second paragraph if you substitute ‘Labour’ for ‘BBC’ it still works.
@OwenJones84 Those people need to quickly get back behind the BBC, because the Tories aren’t seeking to destroy it for anything other than the Tories own benefit 💁🏻♂️
@OwenJones84 Which would be fine But in all likelihood it will come from general taxation
