I dont want UK people with any protected characteristic (inc gender reassignment) to give up any equality legal rights they actually have currently. What those precisely are is matter of proper legal interpretation, context specific and balanced with conflicting rights of others
@AudreySuffolk I don’t think GR should be a necessary PC. I believe it could be managed quite well using sex, belief and disability as required. If people look at it objectively (good luck with that).
@DuncanHenry78 People (other than equality lawyers) keep saying that. I disagree, respectfully, because precise definitions are not interchangeable (to ensure everyone who currently is protected from unlawful discrimination or harassment would be confident of being so) & the "because of" test.
@AudreySuffolk @DuncanHenry78 No human can change sex. The GRA 2004 provides a legal fiction that people can change sex. This is harmful to women and children and actually not particularly helpful for those who choose to “transition”. If the law produces such foolish impossibilities it is bad law.
