I dont want UK people with any protected characteristic (inc gender reassignment) to give up any equality legal rights they actually have currently. What those precisely are is matter of proper legal interpretation, context specific and balanced with conflicting rights of others
@AudreySuffolk Policies are giving priority to the PC of gender reassignment over the other characteristics. The fear of litigation by people claiming a trans identity is pushing commercial organisations to prioritise men’s feelings over women’s safety. We have to repeal the GRA and amend 1/2
@AudreySuffolk the Equality Act 2010 to remove the PC of gender reassignment or we will watch women become third class citizens in our lifetime. If men are allowed to use women’s faciities people like me will self-exclude. That is not reasonable. 2/2
@Polly67890 If one puts the sex based exceptions to one side (in that we ensure they are properly provided to prevent indirect sex, R&B etc discrimination), do you want trans people to be discriminated against on grounds of GR in employment housing etc? I dont
@AudreySuffolk I think that people claiming a trans belief or identity can be protected under the characteristic of “religion or belief”. That protects them from unfair discrimination for employment or housing. FWIW I do not believe that anyone is genuinely trans but then I don’t believe 1/2
@AudreySuffolk I don’t believe in god either. I do believe that people should be allowed to believe whatever they like but not impose their beliefs on others. No man is a woman. I will not use female changing rooms or toilets if there is a man in there. It is unreasonable to allow men in2/2
