The Texans are working hard to get media to normalize the idea of hiring a head coach who has no college or pro coaching experience, in any capacity. I really like and respect Josh McCown, but the idea of making him a head coach is offensive to anyone who has paid their dues.
@ProFootballTalk They’re trying to find a diamond in the rough. Hell the cardinals just made the playoffs with a head coach who failed at Texas tech with Patrick Mahomes for 3 years.
@ProFootballTalk As long as the Texans don’t have an elite franchise QB like Aaron, Patrick, or Kirk under center, they could hire the ghost of Vince Lombardi and it wouldn’t matter a lick. You have to have a GUY slinging the ball around the yard and calling the shots, Mike. The only way to win.
@ProFootballTalk Especially to David Culley. As an African American I find this situation disgusting and can’t believe it will go over well in the Texans’ locker room.
@ProFootballTalk So if Josh McCown is the best candidate, idk if he is or not, a team should ignore that bc he hasnt “paid his dues”?
@ProFootballTalk What does "paying your dues" have to do with anything. There are plenty of qualified assistants who have "paid their dues" and still are passed over year over year.If the Texans feel he is qualified and a fit they hire him. Then let history dictate if it was the right choice.
@ProFootballTalk Paid their dues? <sigh> You guys are unreal. In the same breath you claim no one wants the Texans HC and then get angry when the Texans consider someone that doesn’t have the experience that you expect. Pick a lane, already.
@ProFootballTalk @SportsbyBrooks I’ll say this, there’s ZERO chance this opportunity would happen if Josh McCown was African-American, Asian or Hispanic. No shot. #NFL #Texans
@ProFootballTalk Paying your dues is such an old school way of thinking. If you think he’s best for the job and can get the most out of guys than your hire him. People don’t deserve jobs because they’ve simple held a job in the industry for a benchmark amount of time.
