A moment at Cootes Paradise Marsh for #WorldWaterDay 💧Wetlands are the world’s most biologically rich ecosystems. Linking land and water, they provide food, water, and shelter for plants and animals. They also perform functions, from cleaning water to reducing flooding. 🧵1/4
Through the wetland restoration work we do here at RBG, the long term goal is the recovery of water quantity and quality conditions, to promote the natural regeneration and the sustainability of wetland ecosystem. 🧵2/4
Areas of focus include: 1. Exclusion & removal of Common Carp to facilitate aquatic plant growth. 2. Emergent marsh planting to mitigate water level regulation. 3. Repair of eroding shorelines through bioengineering 4. Marsh restoration through invasive plant management 🧵3/4
