@SciFi_Techno You people really like to blur the lines between consuming art and creating it. What you enjoy is seeing things you like, not creating it, otherwise you wouldn't see it as an obstacle to overcome.
The process of creating is crucial to learning and growing as an artist. You make discoveries, have revelations, come up with new approaches, techniques, ideas. The process is something most artists enjoy and value deeply. If it feels like 'mundane drudgery,' ask yourself why.
Advice to grad students: when you write a paper, use a gmail (or similar) for corresponding, instead of your institutional email, since institutional emails usually expire when you graduate. That way people interested in your paper can correspond with you.

@RebeccaRHelm Just last week--March 14. It was from a surface tow pretty close to Bermuda on the way back from the BATS station. We were looking for rhizarians, but my experience with Cymbomonas (the first genome I ever analyzed😍) made this ball catch my eye.
@jethroreading32 @ichthyemily I got a couple of votes for Halosphaera, a green alga that forms these ball structures similar to phaeocystis too. I didn't know about Halosphaera before, but it is in the same group of green algae that made this colony catch my eye. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halosphae…
