This is just how the system works, including under Trump! Many people released after having been arrested, processed, and fingerprinted lack a photo ID, but still need to travel. So DHS told DHS (TSA) to accept DHS (CBP/ICE) documents as ID. There is nothing wrong with that.

Almost nothing about this process is new, nor is it even remotely scandalous. TSA has access to the DHS databases where all the information about a person previously arrested is stored, including photos and fingerprints. And they still obviously go through security screens!

@ReichlinMelnick This guy used to be LAPD's go-to copaganda pusher. This was not, in fact, a tampon, as was immediately obvious. foxla.com/news/lasd-inve…
@ReichlinMelnick Sigh. Just FYI there are exceptions for the photo id requirement for literally everyone. And although immigration documents are just one of the many corroborating docs permitted, you get a very nice body inspection to get through security on these bases. Enjoy!
@ReichlinMelnick And in every single one of over the 60 cases I handled, ICE refused to give my clients their passports and told them to travel with arrest warrant documents.
