🙋♂️Raise your hand if you want President Biden to exert maximum pressure on Joe Manchin to support ending the filibuster, so that the Freedom To Vote Act will pass.
@american2084 @SBWheat1 I don't understand how Biden 'putting pressure on Manchin means? What exactly does that entail, besides talking to Manchin. Also, what about Sinema?
@SjBecker91 @american2084 McConnell does it daily. He has negotiating power with them...things they want...he can use it if he will & it sounds as it we may be at that point. Hopefully.
@SBWheat1 @american2084 I understand McConnel does that with his republicans. Mitch holds power over his caucus, like committee assignment, etc. My ? was what 'pressure' can Biden put on Manchin & Sinema besides talking to them, which so far has achieved nothing.
@SjBecker91 @american2084 This story describes 3 options, $$$ & backing of the DNC seem the most favorable at the moment, doesn't mean it will work, but every option has to be pursued. Biden has been around a long time, he knows his way around senate dealings. thehill.com/opinion/white-…
@SBWheat1 @american2084 It still comes down to talking, persuasion, etc. Just wish there was something more concrete that could be done to help Nanchin & Sinema understand democracy is on the line.
@SjBecker91 @american2084 Democracy doesn't seem to be important to those 2. 3 Dems also voted against lowering drug prices killing Pelosi's bill. We are our own worst enemy. When Republicans are told to tow the line, they do with few exceptions. As JFK said, "If not us, who, if not now, when?"
