The Bureau of Justice Statistics reported 4,234 people died in US prisons in 2019 (the most recent year statistics are available). More people die in US prisons annually than the total number of people incarcerated in many countries. 247wallst.com/special-report….
@SDonziger Police are not always on your side. The New Progressive Alliance article “Widespread Police Misconduct and an Expanding Prison Population” has over 720 references. newprogs.org/massive_police…
@SDonziger C'est une honte !! 😡
@SDonziger “the leading causes of inmate deaths are the same as the most common causes of death outside of prison: heart disease and cancer. Between 2001 and 2019, 87% of state prisoners and 89% of federal inmates died of some type of illness, according to the U.S. Department of Justice”
@SDonziger @redsarah99 Sadly, not remotely surprised.
@SDonziger To my dudes on the right, deal with this nonsense first and then talk to me about whether some rich billionaire politician is being treated unfairly.
@SDonziger In 2019, the Brazilian prison population was 730,000 of which 1,500 died. Meanwhile, outside prisons, the Brazilian police killed 5800 people in the same year. In 2020 there were 6400 and in 2021 6100 dead.
@SDonziger Pongan orden en su patio, antes de emitir opiniones injerencistas.
