Hats off to John Vollmer of Boeing. @Free_Space asks what the minimum time between OFT-2 and the crew flight test would be. Steve Stich of NASA gives a long non-answer. Then, Vollmer says, "We'd like to see six months" between them.
@SciGuySpace @Free_Space My bet is that OFT-2 wont happen until August/September of next year. If six months between OFT and CFT are optimistic, I think nine months are a fair assumption. Therefore CFT wont happen until May 2023. Spacex will have flown Crew-6 by then.
@SciGuySpace @Free_Space Why did they put Stich on CCP? Kathy was so much better in giving straight answers.
@SciGuySpace @Free_Space wonder at what point boeing just gives up with starliner....
@SciGuySpace @Free_Space Thus “if” OFT-2 takes place in May 2022 then CFT wil be a NET October 2022 according to Vollmer!
@SciGuySpace @Free_Space Maybe Stich is practicing in case he runs for office some day?
@SciGuySpace @Free_Space So, in the perfect scenario, adding 6 months for OFT-2 and CFT, earliest date for first operational Starliner mission would be May 2023. Sounds like Spacex will fly all 6 missions before that
