There are those who want a Cold War with China. I don’t. While there are strong differences between our countries, there will be no solution to the climate change crisis unless the U.S. and China cooperate. I applaud Presidents Biden and Xi for working together on that issue.

Today and every Veterans Day, we honor the service made by our nation's veterans – our friends, family and neighbors – who have put on the uniform to serve our country. Thank you to all the veterans and their families across Vermont and the nation for their bravery and sacrifice.

1.5 million people in Gaza have been displaced from their homes. 10,000 have been killed, with more wounded. They desperately need food, water, medical supplies, and fuel. Yet, in the midst of this horrific human tragedy, House Republicans oppose any humanitarian aid. Pathetic.

In a world increasingly torn apart by war and hatred, we need a strong UN to work for peace and diplomacy. In the midst of the disaster in Gaza, which has claimed many thousands of lives, we will not forget the 89 UN workers who have died providing for those in desperate need.

While the ten largest drug companies made over $112 billion in profits last year and pay their CEOs exorbitant compensation packages, one out of four Americans cannot afford their medicine. That is unacceptable and it has got to change.

The House should pass desperately needed aid for Gaza, work to stop the conflict in the Middle East, and address the pressing needs of the American people. Instead they voted to censure my friend @RashidaTlaib, the only Palestinian-American in Congress. Pathetic and shameful!

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s right-wing prime minister, said yesterday that Israel would oversee Gaza’s security for “an indefinite period” after the war. Really? Should US funds support a long-term military occupation over an already battered & impoverished people? I think not.

This is a very difficult moment for the world. Given that reality now, more than ever, we must stand up to the ugliness of anti-semitism, Islamophobia and all forms of racism. We cannot descend into hatred. We must work towards peace.
