Throughout WW1 when it was forbidden by the authorities to paint landscapes showing aspects of the British coastline, Harold Harvey concentrated on domestic interiors which reveal that even in the darkest days of the war, the sun still shone and life carried on.
Today’s the day - Happy Book Birthday to Latkes and Applesauce!! I’m so thrilled (and more than a bit nervous) to share this beautiful story with you all.
This is one of my favorite pages - formative to my understanding of these characters and how I wanted this book to feel.

Congratulations to my father, who was today announced as one of @heritage_crafts finalists for Woodworker of the Year. Not bad for a self-taught carver, who uses tools he made himself out of sharpened Land Rover springs. This piece (by popular demand), is solid Scottish elm
