50% of ALL the surface area of Downtown Tulsa is dedicated to streets or surface parking. At some point, you knock down and build so much parking there's no reason to park there anymore. 50%... wow.

It is unconscionable that a city of 900,000 people has a downtown that's essentially a parking lot. (Columbus, OH)

This is a series that I really enjoy making, even though it’s a lot of work (all polygons digitized by hand!). Follow me for more and tell me which city or town you’d like me to do anywhere? twitter.com/the_transit_gu…

The yellow signifies surface lots while the purple represents structured parking. There is more parking in this picture, but downtown is bounded by the highways and then the rail to the west, so that was my focus.

As always, if you know of any local groups doing great urbanism and transit advocacy in the Columbus/OH area I’m happy to promote them!
