I've seen the level of excellent custom work on LinkedIn. At the end of the day, it's up to you where you want to put your time and energy.

If you are an org that is optimized for pulling wire and networking, do it. But as you allude to it's a low-skill competitive market. Instead, I like to go 4 max value for clients.
