A fulfilled life is filled with the pursuit of a few big meaningful goals and a lot of small goals that are secretly meaningful too.
The original idea ended with: "and a lot of meaningless small goals." But, it dawned on me that these goals aren't meaningless for 3 reasons...
1. There is no picking and choosing If you have decided to live a meaningful life, everything you do is meaningful. There is no picking and choosing.
2. There's a reason you set "extra" goals You set these “extra” goals because there was something interesting about them. And if they brought you joy or not, setting and pursuing them teaches you about yourself. That’s meaningful.
3. Everything's connected With enough awareness you will see that pursuing these goals have/will help in pursuing your larger “meaningful” goals.
Moral: Set "big" abstract goals on longer time horizons. Set "small" specific tangible goals on a shorter time horizon. Take action towards a few "big" ones and many "small" ones, and you will have a fulfilled life.
