Gov. Newsom on Thursday signed two bills meant to make it easier to build more housing in California: 1️⃣ Senate Bill 9 2️⃣ Senate Bill 10 But it didn't happen without strong debate on both sides latimes.com/homeless-housi…
@latimes Are they talking about single family homes or duplexes built on the property? And what if an individual owns said property, will they have to build a 2nd home on property even if they don't want it?
@smokerings74 @latimes This allows people to build multi-plex housing where it's suited instead of being required to consume more land to make mono-plex housing.
@CrissaKentavr @smokerings74 @latimes This will allow developers to ruin neighborhoods for profit and vacation rentals. There is no component for affordable housing. Multi family housing does not belong everywhere. Local zoning exists for a reason. People will fight this
@PettelliSB @smokerings74 @latimes Did you really say that? Vacation rentals? 'It will allow developers to house more people, because I need to lock workers from living there when I could extract rental higher income'
@CrissaKentavr @smokerings74 @latimes Yes that’s what is already happening with the ADU law passed last year. People aren’t building them here as granny units. You must not live in coastal Ca
@PettelliSB @smokerings74 @latimes ...And this is bad in some way that housing is more available? Please, be consistent. You just argued, that people shouldn't have housing because it ruins vacation rentals' value. I, on the other hand, was happy my neighbors built accessory units even though I can't.
@CrissaKentavr @PettelliSB @smokerings74 @latimes In California a state with high property taxes these bills are bull shit , a duplex costs still over 300,000.
