Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵
Over the years, hundreds of millions of people have sent over a trillion Tweets, with billions more every week.
Twitter data are among the world’s most powerful data sets. We’re committed to enabling fast & comprehensive access so you can continue to build with us. We’ll be back with more details on what you can expect next week.
@TwitterDev So when the price will be announced? I hope it's reasonably priced. The API was one of the free and high-quality tools I used when I started in software engineering.
@TwitterDev Any updates on the details surrounding the new API pricing? My account is dependent on the Tweet retrieval endpoints that power the data my audience cares for. @TwitterDev @elonmusk
@TwitterDev Could you grant free access at least to Blue users? It is not a good idea to charge the developer. End users like me would pay if access via 3rd party applications and services is maintained, as the official client cannot fit all.
@TwitterDev Is that what happened to official macOS twitter app? it stopped paying for API access? Funny how api got cut off for 3rd party apps when you won’t even support your first party one.

@TwitterDev February 9th is next week. We get more details when the change happens? 💀
@TwitterDev We really just gonna wait to the last minute before telling anyone how this is gonna work or...
@TwitterDev Has the "next week" come yet? If you just want to stop all the apps why not just kill them than making them wait for a week? So much for commiting to enabling fast and comprehensive access.
@TwitterDev Thank you thank you thank you for this. I understand why and appreciate it. People who know what's up with this, know. Well done.
