This spring, add fraud prevention to your list of cleaning activities. Start with these three tips. 🧵
@WellsFargo Attn Wells Fargo customers: I was scammed by someone who called me from Wells Fargo’s actual phone number, pretending to be a WF Fraud speciality. They had the same holding music, had already moved money around in my account and ultimately took a large sum of my money via a wire
@WellsFargo I have since gone through the claims and fraud process with Wells Fargo for over a month now. They are refusing to reimburse me of any money lost and claim they have no responsibility in this matter. It is my opinion and that of my legal counsel that WF failed to protect me.
@WellsFargo I had the case escalated all the way to their Executive Claims branch. I filed a report with the FTC, cyber crimes at FBI, and provided 12 pieces of evidentiary documents to WF. I just spoke with exec claims branch and they informed me that I will not be getting back money.
@WellsFargo I am now disputing this decision AGAIN in hopes of a different outcome. In the meantime, I now will be seeking more legal counsel. As a customer of WF for 30 years I’m shocked how little my account was protected and how WF has handled this situation altogether.
@WellsFargo Just know that Wells Fargo will not protect you in the case of phone spoofing or if someone has already accessed your account via hacking. In fact, they will even try to make it seem like it’s your fault even when the perpetrator called you from their official number.
